November 30th marks the beginning of Advent, a time when we prepare ourselves to once again celebrate Christmas and receive anew into our hearts the Christ child, the Savior of the world. Our Sunday emphasis for this time is:

                                                    Everyone Needs Christmas….

                                                               Its Hope

                                                                   Its Peace

                                                                       Its Joy

                                                                           Its Love

November 30th                                    The Hope of Christmas

Does it ever get to you? Especially this time of year? Things should be different. Shouldn’t they? Even though we seem to naturally try to block it all out, the brokenness of our world -and our lives- is at times overwhelming, is it not?  Is there any hope for us in our brokenness?  Everyone needs Christmas, especially its hope.

Sunday, December 7th                            The Peace of Christmas

We always feel it, don’t we?...Especially this time of year? Life keeps getting faster and faster and faster as we also are caught up trying to make that “perfect Christmas” which we are never quite able to attain. Where can we find peace in our busy-ness? Enter the real peace of Christmas, a peace not of our making, but rather of God’s making. Yes, everyone needs Christmas, especially its peace.

Sunday, December 14th                         The Joy of Christmas

Do you see it? This time of year everyone seems to “put on a happy face,” but for most of us it is just a cover up. Everyone wants to be happy. Everyone wants to find joy…but it seems so hard to find it. Enter Christmas joy. It is a gift…and it is for you. Yes, everyone needs Christmas, especially its joy.

Sunday, December 21st                            The Love of Christmas

We all know it, don’t we? Love is supposed to be something you can count on, something you can trust in. But so often it turns into disappointment and it hurts. The love of Christmas is different. It is a love that will never disappoint or hurt. It is a love that will never fail. We all need a love like this. We all need Christmas, especially its love.

Wednesday Advent Worship  7pm, December 3rd, 10th, and 17th

As we approach the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with so much swirling around us which would pull our focus away from Him and His Gift at Christmas, we offer three Wednesday evening Advent worship experiences to help us keep our eyes on Him. Our Wednesday evening Advent emphasis for this time is;

(In the Madness of the Time…..)

Come and Rest for Awhile

                                                                             In the Mystery of Transcendence

In the Wonder of the Now

In the Awe of the Eternal

Each Wednesday worship will be preceded by a light supper (usually soup, salad, and dessert) served from 6pm-6:45pm. Also during this time, there will be a “craft corner” for young children where they can make various Christmas crafts to hang on the tree.

Wednesday, December 3rd                       In the Mystery of Transcendence

Is this all there is?... Does this question ever haunt you, especially this time of year when we work so hard to make everything “perfect?” ….I mean, is this all there is, trying to have a perfect holiday? If so, come and rest for awhile in the mystery of a God who transcends everything…for us. There is more. Come and rest in Christmas.

Wednesday, December 10th                      In the Wonder of the Now

Do you ever find yourself always living for “tomorrow?” ….especially at this time of the year? Does the now always seem to be not quite enough? If so, come and rest for awhile in the wonder of the now in the reality of Christmas. Yes, there is more than enough right now, today. Come and rest in Christmas.

Wednesday, December 17th                        In the Awe of the Eternal

How big is Christmas? I mean, does it have any meaning beyond the gifts and the family get together and the feeling of good cheer? Or is it just another attempt that falls short of the significance for which we hope? If you find yourself searching for significance, come and rest for awhile in the awe of the eternal. Come and rest in Christmas.
